23 Things I've Learnt in 23 Years

Well hello again everyone, look at me, back with the regular blogging. So at the end of March I turned 23, to be honest it was very bittersweet as I had things going on in my personal life which definitely soured the mood. But I thought now would be the perfect time to reflect on important things which i've learnt, how my life has got better and changed in the past few years and things which I wish i'd have learnt sooner. I'll try and keep this short and sweet, with minimal ramblings. (Key word being 'try'.)

1. Don't succumb to the pressures of age
Basically, if you go to university when you're 18, or whether you go when you're 50, it doesn't matter. (You don't even have to go to uni). My point is, don't give in to the pressures of people saying you should do things at a certain age.

2. Work hard
Always work hard, it can be really tough sometimes but in the end you'll always reap the best rewards.

3. Life goes on
Sh*t happens, it's true. Life does go on. It can be tough when you're going through a rough patch but it will always get better.

4. Don't be afraid to ask for help
Other people can have valuable insight or things to offer. Don't sit and struggle, always ask for help if you need it. In the end, you'll be better off.

5. Positive vibes only
Positive vibeeeeeez only. Your vibe attracts your tribe, stay positive and it will not only attract the right people into your space but it also helps massively with your mindset.

6. Don't be scared to try new things
Try everything once, you never know, you might end up loving something you didn't expect. It's also important not to look back and regret not trying something.

7. It's important to make an effort
If you don't make an effort, with people or with work, how can you expect to get the best results? Make an effort and if it doesn't work out then you can't say you didn't try.

8. Don't be mean
You never know what battles people are facing under the surface.

9. Take the time to reflect
It's important to take some time out of your schedule regularly to reflect on your life. Are you going in the direction you want to? Are the people in your life helping you and building you up?

10. EAT THE PIZZA
Life is too short not to.

11. Happiness is the most important thing
As long as you are happy, and healthy, that's the key thing. Don't do anything which is going to disrupt your happiness.

12. You're in charge
It's easy to get sucked into the pressures of what other people expect you to do, but you're the one in charge. Do what you love and don't let people dissuade you.

13. Don't settle
Don't settle for anything that you don't deserve.

14. Health is wealth
Looking after your health is so important, make sure you look after yourself.

15. Find your own style
It's totally fine not to like what everyone else likes, find your own style and be proud of it.

16. Don't compare yourself
Everyone measures success differently, don't compare yourself to others. Set your own goals and go at your own pace in life.

17. Find your way to cope
Sometimes, bad things happen. They can be really distressing and it's important to find ways to cope when life throws these curve balls at you. The earlier you discover coping mechanisms, the better it will be.

18. You'll get your heart broken at least once (but it will be okay)
Having your heart broken sucks. But trust me when I say, it does get better.

19. Don't force friendships
Friendships are effort, if someone doesn't want to be in your life, let them go. It's emotionally exhausting having to make an effort with someone who doesn't want to be there.

20. Stay true to yourself
There's so many pressures to keep up with trends, to buy the latest things but the most important thing is to stay true to who you are.

21. It's okay to f*ck up sometimes
It's okay to make mistakes as long as you accept them, move on from them and grow from them.

22. Have fun
Honestly, whatever you're doing, have fun doing it. Or at least try to. Approaching things with that fun and positive outlook makes even the dullest of tasks bearable.

23. Life is too short
These last few years have absolutely flown by for me, and honestly, it scares me how quick the time is going. Embrace life and make the most of it, we're not on this earth for a long time so live your best life with no regrets.

I hope you guys enjoyed this type of post, I keep seeing people do them and I just love reading things like this as I find them really interesting and motivating. There's so many things I learn every day and I can't wait to continue to grow and learn more about life and myself. I hope you all have a fabulous week!

  1. I definitely learnt to not to settle! Something I took a while to get to.
